Because of this, it is crucial for the dog to consistently keep contact with the handler and not be distracted by the environment or outside disturbances.

For a dog to stay focused throughout the entire course, focus and attention training must start early in the training process. Regardless of location, exercise type, or surrounding environment, the dog should always keep focus on the handler. This can be achieved by training the dog in various settings with different distractions.

Training should include exposure to common distractions like signs, cones, jumps, people, and other potential interruptions. The dog must learn to ignore these environmental factors and stay focused on the handler and the exercise at hand.
